inventio: a journal of creative thinking about learning and teaching will publish two issues in the 1999-2000 academic year, one in October 1999 and one in February, 2000. The Editorial Board is currently soliciting articles for these two issues.
Articles for inventio fall into several categories:
Articles for the October 1999 issue should be submitted by June 30, 1999.
Articles for the February 2000 issue should be submitted by October 30, 1999.
Since inventio is published on the Web, authors are encouraged to plan their articles with electronic layout considerations in mind. At a minimum, this means that articles should include a 100-150 word summary or abstract at the beginning and be developed in sections with headings that can serve as navigation links within the article. Notes and citations should be placed at the end of the article for ease in creating links to them.
For an example of online layout, visit Scientific American's site and look at
its feature articles:

The Editorial Board is currently working on a publication guidelines document, which will be available on the DoIIIT Web site in the spring semester.
If you are interested in preparing an article for inventio, please contact the Editorial Board by sending an email to Anne Agee at aagee@gmu.edu giving a brief description of your proposed article. The Editorial Board works cooperatively with authors to plan and develop each issue, so early notification of your interest in participating in an issue of the journal will help facilitate the process. Please feel free to contact any member of the Editorial Board to discuss your idea for an inventio article. All submissions are reviewed by the Editorial Board, and deadlines have been set to insure ample time for discussion of revision and layout issues before final publication.
